A Walk of Historical Sharp Hill Cemetery

Join the Wilton Historical Society and the Wilton Congregational Church on Sunday, October 22nd from 12 – 1 pm to explore the town’s oldest extant burial ground, Sharp Hill Cemetery. Established in 1738, the cemetery was active up to the 1880’s. It serves as the final resting place of many notable Wilton residents, including Revolutionary War veterans, pastors, businessmen, and town founders with familiar names like Lambert and Hurlbutt.

Costumed reenactors along with Wilton History Room Archivist Dr. Julie Hughes, Wilton Historical Society Director Nick Foster, and Wilton Congregational Church Executive Administrator Pam Brown will be on hand to share the fascinating history of the cemetery, the town, and the select individuals interred there, as well as the historic traditions surrounding death and burials in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Walk will begin near the main gate of Sharp Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is located at the intersection of Danbury Road (Route 7) and Sharp Hill Road (Route 106).

Please register in advance by emailing info@wiltonhistorical.org.
Suggested donation of $10.
